Identification of Invasive and Injurious Species is a 2 day course, accredited by Lantra. Assessment is Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA).
The course was developed as a direct response to the need to control and eradicate non-native invasive species such as Japanese Knotweed. Learners will cover legislation and key definitions as well as the identification of:
- Invasive Plant Species
- Non-Native Insects
- Non-Native Vertebrates
- Injurious Insect and Reptile Species
The course will then focus on the Fallopia species (Japanese Knotweed), and cover related legislation, codes of practice and industry guidance. Learners will discuss identification and recommended methods of control, including requirement for monitoring and further treatments for subsequent regeneration and requirement for keeping records.
