Course:

This is a two day Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) course registered with Lantra which covers those who need to use a chainsaw on already felled timber.  The course covers key knowledge to use and keep a chainsaw running safely. It does not qualify users to fell trees.

Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting (refresher)

This is a one day course, registered with Lantra, for those who are already operating in industry. It will refresh your skills in chainsaw maintenance, and safe use of chainsaws for cross-cutting, as well as handling and stacking timber.  It does not qualify users to fell trees.

This is a four day course of Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA), registered with Lantra, which is ideal for those who only want to fell small trees occasionally, such as gardeners or farmers . Please note you can’t add further modules to this course such as felling larger trees etc.

Chainsaw Maintenance, Crosscutting and basic felling techniques up to 200mm diameter (refresher)

This is a two day refresher course, registered with Lantra, to hone knowledge and skills in felling and processing trees up to 200mm, for occasional chainsaw users who already hold a certificate

Level 2 certificate of competence

This is a five day training, with an additional assessment day, registered with NPTC City & Guilds. Training and assessment covers two modules, commonly referred to as CS30 and CS31. It is the first of the professional chainsaw trainings. The first day of training is held here at One Ash Farm and remaining days are held at woodlands in the Northwest.

The course covers health and safety rules and regulations and maintenance tips and tricks before moving on to practical skills including; felling trees (up to 380mm diameter); taking down hung-up trees; de-limbing felled trees and cross cutting and stacking timber.

Chainsaw maintenance & crosscutting and felling small trees up to 380mm diameter (refresher)

This is a two day training, is a refresher course for professional chainsaw users who already hold a certificate (CS30/31). It is registered with NPTC City & Guilds. The first day of training starts here at One Ash Farm before moving to woodlands in the Northwest.

The course refreshes users knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations and maintenance tips and tricks before moving on to practical skills including; felling trees (up to 380mm diameter); taking down hung-up trees; de-limbing felled trees and cross cutting and stacking timber.

Level 3 certificate of competence

This is a three day training, with an additional assessment day, registered with NPTC City & Guilds, commonly known as CS32. The course covers safety, emergency procedures, good practice and techniques for felling and processing medium sized trees. The training is held at woodlands across the Northwest.

Please note that you must hold CS30 and CS31 in order to do this qualification, and will be asked to provide certificates when you book.

Level 2, certificate of competence

This is a five day course, with an additional test day, registered with NPTC City & Guilds, and is commonly referred to as CS38. It is carried out in woodlands in the Holmeswood (Lancashire) area. The course covers techniques for the safe and effective ascent and descent into trees and correct pruning position. It also covers the duties of a grounds person as well as a variety of aerial rescue techniques.

Level 2, certificate of competence

This is a three day course, with additional test day, registered with NPTC City & Guilds, and is commonly referred to as CS39. The course covers legislative and safety requirements; tree conditions; tools and equipment as well as pruning techniques, and pruning from a rope and harness.

Please note that you must hold CS30, CS31 and CS38 in order to do this qualification, and will be asked to provide certificates when you book.

Level 3 certificate of competence

This is a two day course, with additional test day, registered with NPTC City & Guilds, and is commonly referred to as CS40. The course covers a variety of pruning techniques and tools for aerial pruning.

Please note that you must hold CS30, CS31, CS38 and CS39 in order to do this qualification, and will be asked to provide certificates when you book.

Level 3 certificate of competence

This is a four day course, with additional test day, registered with NPTC City & Guilds, and is commonly referred to as CS41. The course covers the removal of sections from a tree crown under the control of rope rigging and lifting gear, with support from a grounds worker.

Please note that you must hold CS30, CS31, CS38 and CS39 in order to do this qualification, and will be asked to provide certificates when you book.

Level 3 certificate of competence

This is a one day course, registered with NPTC City & Guilds. The course will cover setting up and operating a mobile elevated work platform and using a chainsaw from a MEWP, for the purposes of tree pruning.

Please note that you must hold CS30 and CS31 in order to do this qualification, and will be asked to provide certificates when you book.

Level 3 certificate of competence

This is a four day course, with additional test day, covering two training modules and registered with NPTC City & Guilds. The course will cover safety considerations, equipment, felling techniques and methods of assisted felling as well as industry good practice in dealing with individual windblown trees.

Please note that you must hold CS30 and CS31 in order to do this qualification, and will be asked to provide certificates when you book.

This one day course, registered with Lantra, will cover the safety considerations and practical techniques required to use a clearing saw.

Level 2 Award

This course, registered with Lantra, will cover the safety considerations and practical techniques required to use a powered pole pruner. The course can be completed in one day if the learner already holds a chainsaw certificate (such as CS30), or in an experienced pole pruner operator, or over two days if a complete novice.
