Learning to drive any vehicle is like learning to drive a car – some people need more practice than others. The time frames given below are guidelines, based on our experience, but we’re always happy to discuss your individual circumstances.

This is a one day Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) course, registered with Lantra.

The course will cover legal requirements, risk assessment and causes of accidents. Learners will also undertake practical activities to demonstrate daily and pre-use checks, fault identification and reporting, route planning, driving on a variety of slopes and terrains, with loads and/or trailed equipment.

This is an Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) course, registered with Lantra. The course can be run with a excavator above or below ten tonnes.

The course will cover plant safety and the law, hazard identification, machinery knowledge and preparing the machine for work, travelling and manoeuvring the machine, machine operations.

During the course, learners will prepare the machine and bucket to excavate, demonstrate how to attached and remove different types of buckets and ancillaries safely, perform excavations in various soil types.

NoviceThis is a five day course

Some experience – This is a three day course (candidates who have driven on an occasional basis, but have not had a certificate).

Experienced – This is a two day course  (candidates who have driven on an regular basis, but have not had a certificate).

This is an Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) course, registered with Lantra. It is typically run as a one day course, but can be longer depending on learner needs and experience. This course offers two certificate options: operating either a tracked or wheeled machine depending on your needs. Please give us a ring to discuss your individual needs.

The course covers plant safety and the law; travelling and manoeuvring the machine; machine operation; and securing loads and safe transportation. There are both theory and practical assessments.

Level 2

This is an online, e-learning course from Lantra.

The course is aimed at learners who transport farm animals, horses or birds (domestic fowl, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, quails, pheasants and partridges) over 65km on short road journeys of up to and including eight hours, as either a driver or attendant.

This is also available as an assessment only option. You will need a computer with access to a webcam, microphone and screen sharing to complete the assessment, alternatively the assessment can be completed at One Ash Farm
